Welcome to the rooBag(s) website! Since your here, I'm guessing we share some of the same thoughts about using reusable shopping bags. That's why I'm excited to share with you the rooBag(s) story.
Like you, I was tired of using plastic bags. Beyond the environmental impact, I found them uncomfortable to carry, and I always had too many of them around. Sure they came in handy for picking up after my dog, or lining bathroom trash cans, but I still had way more than needed. Sometimes I used paper bags. Even though there were less of them than plastic, they were still taking up space, in my kitchen closet.
I also bought several reusable bags, but they just weren't convenient to carry -- all wadded up in one bag. If I didn't need them all, the extras were a nuisance; so I started just taking one or two for small shopping trips. Of course, I always found something on sale that I hadn't planned on buying, and ended up not having enough bags. Half the time, I'd forget to take them in, even when in my car -- OK sometimes I deliberately forgot.
There had to be a better way! Surely others had the same experience. I started thinking about what I'd find useful and convenient in a reusable shopping bag.
My goal was to create a unique bag-in-bag storage design that was easy to use. Becasue I liked the look and function of paper bags, I used them as my starting point. After several design revisions and prototypes, the structural design seemed to work. Now on to the name and logo. The pouches on the outside reminded me of a kangaroo, which was shortened to roo and the (s) in Bag(s) signifies that rooBag(s) is one bag or several, depending on what you need. The clever and easily-recognizable logo was created by the talented Laurie Schutza. There were many more steps in getting rooBag(s) manufactured and to you. But, long story short, that's how rooBag(s) began.
